Top 7 Beaches around Southeast Asia for beach bums

Posted at in

Beach bums, know your place (South East Asia is certainly one of them)

Who doesn’t like just sitting on a pearl white beach with a cocktail in one hand and a book in your other. In this post I will tell you about the most amazing stretches of sand around SEA for beach bums and why to go to that particular beach.

Maya bay, Koh Phi Phi Leh, Thailand

One of the most well known beaches in Southeast Asia thanks to the movie ‘The beach’ featuring Leonardo DiCaprio. The perfect white sand and crystal clear water is everything you want in a beach. As everyone wants to enjoy this little piece of paradise it can get crowded so try to go in low season if you can.

Best suited for: Anyone that is wondering why they choose this beach to film a movie at, go and have a look for yourself and you will see!

Long beach, Perhentian Kecil, Malaysia

This beach is the centre for most of the activities on the island such as snorkeling, diving and sea-kayaking. After a busy day of full of action you can enjoy some hula and fire dancing on the beach.

Best suited for: People that are looking to have an active beach holiday.

Sao Beach, Phu Quoc, Vietnam

This is definitely one of Vietnam’s best beaches. The calm crystal clear water and soft white sand make this a perfect location for families with children. So if you are a beach lover you can’t skip this little gem!

Best suited for: Families with children as the water has no currents and is shallow.

White beach, Boracay, Philippines

The most famous beach in Boracay. This beach has been ranked one of the most beautiful in the world by Tripadvisor. With lots of wrecks, colorful coral and a chance to see whale sharks this island is a divers dream. Don’t forget to check out the rest of this stunning island while you are there!

Best suited for: Anyone looking to go diving. If you are not qualified yet you are able to do this on the island.

Haad Son Beach, Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand

This is personally one of my favorite beaches in Thailand. It is not as well known as all the other major beaches on the island and because of that allot less crowded. This tiny stretch of sand can be seen as you drive down one of the hills on the island. It’s perfect for snorkeling as there are plenty of fish in the sea!

Best suited for: Anyone that is touring around the island on a moped and looking for a perfect little beach to cool down at.

Pantai Tengah Beach, Langkawi, Malaysia

If you are a adrenaline junkie and you love to go paragliding, water skiing or wakeboarding this is the perfect beach for you. You might not want to go swimming with so much action going on around you though!

Best suited for: Anyone that is looking to do some extreme watersports.

Lonely beach, Koh Rong, Cambodia

This little slice of paradise isn’t called lonely beach for no reason. There is only 1 resort on this beach meaning that there won’t be many other people. Another reason to go to Koh Rong is that at night the bioluminescent plankton will light up when you move the water with your hands and feet.

Best suited for: Anyone that is looking to ‘disappear’ for a little while from the world. The only resort available is a basic eco lodge with no Wifi/3g/4g, but to be fair with so much beauty around you, there is no need for any internet.

Dearest beach bums, what is your favorite stretch of sand in Southeast Asia? I would love to hear your opinion!
